Safety & about
What Nirapod is — and what it is not
Nirapod is a community safety information tool for Bangladesh. It helps people see where incidents have been reported so they can make everyday decisions with better context.
Reports are community submissions, not verified facts
Every entry on the map begins as a report submitted by a member of the public. A report means somebody said this happened. It does not mean the incident has been confirmed by police, a court, or Nirapod.
We deliberately use the wording “reported incident”, “community report” and “reported activity”. Please read the map the same way.
Nirapod never identifies alleged criminals
Nirapod does not publish names, photos, phone numbers, vehicle numbers, social media profiles or addresses of alleged offenders — and never will. Reports describe what was reported in an area, not who someone believes did it.
Submissions that attempt to accuse or identify a person are rejected. Naming people publicly is unsafe, unfair, and often unlawful.
How moderation works
Submitted reports enter a moderation queue with the status pending. Nothing appears on the public map until it is reviewed and approved. Moderation checks include:
- removal of personal or identifying information
- screening for threats, harassment and revenge posting
- detection of duplicate, spam or automated submissions
- location generalisation to an area rather than an exact address
Statuses, timestamps and area safety levels are always assigned by our servers. They can never be set or influenced from a browser.
Responsible reporting
Report only what you experienced or directly witnessed. Describe the incident calmly, keep people out of it, and do not submit anything you would not be comfortable being read by your whole neighbourhood.
Read the community guidelines before submitting.
Emergencies: contact the authorities, not Nirapod
Nirapod is an information tool. It does not alert police, does not monitor submissions in real time, and cannot send help. If someone is in danger, call 999 or go to your nearest police station. Report to Nirapod afterwards, once you are safe.
